Biography
Aleksandar Žmirić (b. 1999, Gradiška, Bosnia and Herzegovina) works in painting and drawing. His practice centres on the human body, exploring its anatomy and materiality through complex figurative compositions. Anonymous figures intertwine, support one another and form structures that move between the organic and the architectural. His work opens up questions of individuality, interdependence and transience, while emphasising the immediate visual experience of painting.
He graduated in Painting from the Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka, in 2023, where he also completed his Master of Fine Arts in 2026. His solo exhibitions have been held at the Gradiška Heritage Museum, the Laktaši Centre for Culture and Education, Gallery Plus and Banski dvor Cultural Centre in Banja Luka. He has received awards from the Gradiška Heritage Museum, the Laktaši Centre for Culture and Education and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.
